Colleagues are all Deaf and part of a Disabled People’s Organization (DPO), officially known as the only registered socio-civic organization of the Deaf in Negros Oriental. We aim to help Deaf individuals to become independent and productive citizens. Our members are involved in various activities that aim for the socio-cultural and psycho-emotional growth of the local Deaf community.
- To educate the Deaf about Filipino Sign Language, Deaf culture and Deaf rights through advocacy workshops, trainings and seminars
- To develop social interaction between and among the Deaf through sports activities, camps, excursions, and related programs
- To enhance Deaf people's productivity as citizens through livelihood and skills development programs
For the Dumaguete Effata Association of the Deaf, Inc. (DEAF, Inc.) is headed in Negros Oriental. It is affiliated as ordinary member of the Philippine Federation of the Deaf. Furthermore, DEAF, Inc. has registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), also recognized as a member of the City Development Council (CDC) and accredited by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Dumaugete.
